Astronomical evidence
TOI-700 d crosses the face of a small, cool star every 37.42 days. The saved catalog lists a radius of 1.073 Earth radii, with an uncertainty of +0.059/−0.054. Transit depth constrains size relative to the star; it does not reveal a shoreline or establish an atmosphere. Climate studies have explored both ocean-covered and dry versions of this world. Their results depend on assumed atmospheric composition, pressure and rotation. A permanently illuminated hemisphere is one possible configuration if rotation has become synchronized with the orbit. The clouds in those calculations are model outcomes, not observed weather. The catalog mass of 1.25 Earth masses is inferred from a mass–radius relationship. It is not an independent mass measurement. Similarly, an equilibrium temperature summarizes a simplified energy balance, rather than the temperature at a particular beach.
The illustrated viewpoint
Sevenfold armored rosette in a still, inward-folded meditative pose. A speculative wet surface near a possible day–night boundary. The rain, ocean and basalt coast in this scene are a speculative realization near a possible day–night boundary. The warm horizon and reflected light illustrate stellar illumination; neither the sky color nor the weather has been measured here.

The visual connection to the cosmos is an artistic theme, not a claimed biological mechanism.
Catalog measurements & sources
Host: TOI-700. Snapshot: 25 September 2026. Errors, limits and source provenance are retained. Calculated values and model estimates are not direct measurements. Unknown is not zero; equilibrium temperature is not surface temperature.
