Astronomical evidence
Kepler-186 f was discovered through transits and lies in its red dwarf host’s habitable zone, where surface liquid water could be possible under suitable atmospheric conditions. The discovery itself did not establish water or life. [2] The saved catalog gives a radius of 1.17 ± 0.08 Earth radii and orbital period of 129.9441 days, with +0.0013/−0.0012 uncertainty. Its catalog mass is derived from a mass–radius relationship, not a direct mass measurement. [1] The image’s lush surface is therefore speculative.
The illustrated viewpoint
Rajiv performs a controlled side kick on wet stone amid rain, dense greenery and towering waterfalls. A worn physical carving of coiling creatures and five worlds occupies the cliff beside him. A small warm star appears above distant ridges. All vegetation, liquid water, rain, waterfalls, geology, atmosphere, architecture, wall art and human presence are imagined. A habitable-zone designation is not evidence for habitation or a breathable atmosphere. Green pigments, the star’s color, weather, apparent sky geometry and illumination are artistic; this is not a calibrated climate or sky simulation.
